Overview

BPI Sinag aims to empower Social Entrepreneurs (SEs) in uplifting Filipino communities and scaling their businesses by addressing the triple bottom-line (people, planet, and profit) through opportunities for technological, social, and market innovations.

In a social enterprise, the poor and marginalized become participants in economic development as workers, suppliers, customers, or owners. Social entrepreneurship advocates for inclusive development.  Changes are inevitable and thus evolution is made possible.

The BPI Sinag Evolution 2022

In its 8th year, the Sinag theme is Evolution, an appropriate representation of the improvements over time of the Sinag program, to better address the needs of social enterprises. Sinag continues to elevate its impact on social enterprises not just from a capacity building perspective, but through a multi-stakeholder approach that now highlights 3 pillars:  social entrepreneurs, the academe, and the intervenors or sub-sectors.

BPI Sinag Evolution 2022 program aspires to build on the success of the National Social Enterprise Development Roadmap last year by translating the roadmap strategies into viable programs. Its main components were designed to support the objectives of the roadmap that focus on developing social entrepreneurship in the country:

  1. It entails the building of social capital involving the different stakeholders such as corporate institutions, cooperatives, NGOs, academe, and the government.
  2. It necessitates the building of intellectual capital through the establishment of a knowledge management hub.
  3. It intends to build community capital by scaling up the SE registry and by providing market access through the Sinag Sari-Sari Store.
  4. Being true to its roots, it also targets to build human capital through its bootcamps and mentoring sessions to be participated by SEs, educators, and intervenors.
  5. The program will culminate in an event through the holding of the second Philippine Social Enterprise Summit late this year to showcase the program’s milestones.
The BPI Sinag Social Entrepreneurship Challenge

BPI Foundation and Bayan Academy have partnered once again to recognize and support more sectors covered by the National Social Enterprise Development Roadmap, a research endeavor shared in last year’s Philippine Social Entrepreneurship Summit. This year, BPI Sinag will have programs and grants for 3 key pillars of social entrepreneurship and development - the social entrepreneurs, the educators, and the key support SE intervenors.
